Blake Carruthers

Blake Carruthers

Blake led the team in hitting, home runs, and RBI in 2011, with a .315 average, seven home runs, and 38 RBI. He fielded .993, and received an NAIA West Gold Glove. He made the NAIA West all-region team, and was named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete.

Blake started in 51 games in center field in 2010. He batted .355, hit seven home runs (tied with Nic Lendvoy for best on the team) and 35 RBI. He fielded 1.000, and received a national Rawlings-NAIA Gold Glove.

During the Summer of 2010, he batted .292 for the Medicine Hat Mavericks of the Western Major Baseball League.

Blake is from Calgary. He attended Central Washington in 2009, but was red-shirted. He was "discovered" by the Thunderbird coaches at the World Baseball Challenge, where he was playing for the Prince George Axemen.

Greg Densem

Greg DensemGreg is a Senior from Toronto. He was the regular catcher for the Thunderbirds in 2010 and 2011. In 2011, he batted .225 with one home run and 16 RBI. He threw out 17 baserunners attempting to steal.

In 2010, he batted .236, with 17 RBI and a home run. He caught nine baserunners attempting to steal, was charged with only one error and three passed balls, and fielded .996.

He played in 15 games in 2009, started in ten of them. He batted .222, fielded 1.000, and caught three baserunners attempting to steal.

Greg was in the Academic Programme for Gifted Athletes at Northview Heights Secondary School. He was Captain and MVP of the Northview Heights baseball team. He played for the Canadian Junior National Team in 2007 and 2008, and for the Toronto Mets 2006-2008. He batted .387, with two home runs, for the Mets in 2008. He also played for the Ontario Youth Team in 2007, and was MVP in the Canada Cup. He was also named to the Toronto Star’s Annual High School All Star Team.

Greg also played Varsity ice hockey and golf, and was the MVP for the Northview Heights ice hockey team, as well as the Captain.

Keaton Briscoe

Keaton Briscoe

Keaton started every game during the 2011 season at second base. He batted .298, with one home run and 17 RBI.

He became the starting third baseman for the Thunderbirds as a true Freshman in 2010. He led the team in hitting at one point during the season, but finished with a .342 average, three home runs, 25 RBI.

Keaton is from North Vancouver. He played for Team BC at the 2009 Canada Games, and batted .533 for the tournament. He also played for the North Shore Twins, batted .298 with 27 RBI, and drew 33 walks. He was named to the Premier League's all-conference team.

Andrew Firth

Andrew FirthAndrew is a Junior from London, ON.

In 2011, he batted .269, with a home run and 17 RBI.

In 2010, he platooned at first base with Bob Foerster, and occasionally played third base. He started in 35 games, batted .351 (best among returning players), with three home runs, 24 RBI.

Andrew played for the London Badgers, who won the Baseball Canada Midget Championship, and for Team Ontario at the Canada Games. He batted .324 with 41 RBI, 18 walks and 12 stolen bases for the Badgers, and he was their offensive and defensive player of the year. At the Canada Games, he batted .500 with two doubles, a home run, and six RBI. He played volleyball, basketball, and ice hockey for Oakridge Secondary School, and was a Thames Valley Regional Athletic Association all-star in ice hockey.



David Otterman

David OttermanA Junior LHP from Coquitlam, David had seven starts in 2011. He went 3-3, 3.00 ERA, with 35 strikeouts. This was the highest strikeout total among the players who didn't turn pro.

He had 13 relief appearances in 2010, had a record of 1-0, 2.21 ERA, and 18 strikeouts in 20 1/3 innings pitched.

Danny Britton-Foster

Dan Britton-FosterA Senior RHP from  Ladysmith, BC. In 2011, he had 13 appearances (two starts), went 1-2, 5.28 ERA, with 20 strikeouts.

In 2010, he had 16 appearances (two starts), had a record of 5-1, 2.04 ERA, with 25 strikeouts, and only four bases on balls.

In 2009, he was 5-2, 3.47 ERA, with 35 strikeouts in 62 1/3 innings pitched. He walked only ten batters.

Dan played for the Canadian Junior National Team and the Nanaimo Pirates in 2008. His numbers for the Pirates are 4-3 W-L, 2.20 ERA, 63 strikeouts and only seven walks in 51 innings pitched. He was one of the most dominant pitchers in the BC Premier League.

He also played for the BC Scout Team in 2008. in 2007, he pitched for the BC team at the Canada Cup, and pitched seven shutout innings (two hits, 11 strikeouts) in the semifinal.

Dan had an excellent summer with the Okotoks Dawgs of the WMBL in 2009. He had a record of 3-0, 1.08 ERA, and 30 strikeouts in 33 1/3 innings pitched. He also played for Team Canada at the 2009 World Baseball Challenge, pitched 11 innings (two starts), struck out eight.

During the summer of 2010, he was 4-3, 3.05 ERA for the Dawgs.

Miles Verweel

Miles VerweelA Junior LHP from Toronto, Miles had six starts in 2011. His record was 3-2, 2.62 ERA, with 11 strikeouts.

As a freshman in 2010, Miles had the lowest ERA on the team, 1.93. His record was 0-0, 12 strikeouts and two bases on balls in 9 1/3 innings pitched.

Matt Spillman

Matt SpillmanA Junior shortstop from Welland, ON, Matt started 47 games in 2011, batted .245, with 18 RBI.

Matt played for Walsh University in North Canton, OH in 2010. He batted .267, with 17 RBI. 

Nick Senior

Nick SeniorA Junior outfielder from Surrey, Nick was named to the Western Major Basball League all-star team during the summer of 2011. Playing for the Melville Millionaires, he batted .327, with 35 RBI and three home runs during the regular season, and .417 in the playoffs.

During 2011, his Sophomore year, he played in 35 games. He batted .200, with three triples, two home runs, and 11 RBI.

In his Freshman year, 2010, he played in 22 games, batted .273, with ten RBI.
