The Thunderbirds held the Cougars to five hits in a game shortened to seven innings by wind and rain. C Bob Foerster was 2-2, batted in two runs, and scored two more. CF Blake Carruthers hit a triple, scored the winning run (batted in by Foerster), and was 2-5.
Brandon Kaye started, went five innings, and got the win. He allowed only two hits, but he walked four batters, and hit six more. David Otterman and Danny Britton Foster went the rest of the way, and Britton-Foster didn't allow a hit.
The Cougars used only two of their top nine position players. (They had a game against Gonzaga the next day.) One of them, LF Brett Jacobs, went 2-4, and scored two runs. They used four pitchers; Only one of them, Michael Ratigan, had more than three appearances so far this year.
