First game (nine innings): The Thunderbirds' 13-game winning streak came to a "wakeup call" end. Despite huge graduation losses, the Coyotes were able to dominate this game. They started by batting around in the third inning off starter Mark Hardy, helped by a uncharacteristic throwing error, and a suspect call at first base. An RBI single by Diego Robles was was part of the four-run inning, and Robles greeted reliever Danny Britton-Foster with a two-RBI single in the sixth inning to provide the winning run.
The Thunderbirds were unable to solve Coyotes starter Ben Rosen, who scattered seven hits over seven innings, allowed only one run, walked one, and hit two batters. The Birds got their remaining runs in the last two innings, and left 12 on base. Hardy got his second loss of the season, allowed five earned runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked five, struck out only one.
Second game (seven innings): Matt Cameron came in to pinch-hit for 3B Keaton Briscoe in the sixth inning, and hit the game-winning RBI single, scoring LF Mike Elias. It was Cameron's fourth hit in five turns at bat this season.
The Thunderbirds opened the scoring in the fourth inning on an RBI single by 1B Andrew Firth, scoring DH Nic Lendvoy, who reached on a double to open the inning. The Coyotes tied it in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Ray Santiago.
Both starters, Eric Brown for the Birds and Jacob Coats, went the distance. Brown held the Coyotes to four hits, struck out five, walked none. Elias went 2-3.
