The Thunderbirds took an early 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on an RBI double by RF Mike Styrna. It didn't hold up. The Coyotes got three runs in the fifth on a pair of walks, a two-RBI single by SS Bryan Champ, and an RBI double by 2B Brad Carlsen. The hit by Champ was the only hit given up by starter Scott Webster, but Webster was replaced by Josh Brink, who gave up the Carlsen double.

This was all the runs the Coyotes needed, but they got three more runs in the seventh off Brink; an RBI single by C Dane McGrady, and a two-RBI single by 1B Richie Snyder.

The Thunderbirds were unable to solve Coyote started Pat Lyon, who went eight innings, allowed two runs on seven hits, struck out five, and walked only one. Andrew Brock of Burnaby pitched a scoreless ninth inning. Webster got the loss.

C Ben Torrie was 2-4 for the Thunderbirds. The second Thunderbird run came on a sacrifice fly by CF Jon Syrnyk in the eighth inning.

The Thunderbirds finished the season 24-28.

Mike Styrna was selected to the Region I All-Star team, and Sammie Starr was selected to the Region I Gold Glove Team.
