Jake Bottari gets a complete-game shutout against the Thunderbirds. He held the Thunderbirds to four hits, and the Birds never got a baserunner to third base.

The Coyotes got all their runs in the seventh inning. 1B Richie Snider hit a double off the centre field scoreboard. He scored the only run the Coyotes needed on a single by 3B Alex O'Brien. The remaining two runs came on a single by C Dane McGrady, on an 0-2 pitch with two out; it was starter Mark Hardy's only mistake of the game. McGrady was out trying to stretch his hit into a double, after the two runs scored.

The Thunderbirds' best scoring chance came in the third inning, when SS Sammie Starr and 3B Fletcher Vynne hit singles, but the inning ended when 1B Ryan Pilgrim hit into a double play.

The remaining Thunderbird hits were a double by 2B Alex White in the second, and a single by LF Craig Leebosh in the seventh. Hardy's numbers were five hits, four strikeouts, and only one walk; the walk became one of the runs batted in by McGrady. Kurtis Schumacher pitched the eighth inning, gave up one hit.
