First game: The Warriors scored seven runs in the sixth inning on only one hit.
The Thunderbirds appeared to be in control of this game when they scored five runs in the bottom of the second on a two-RBI single by 2B Alex White, and RBI singles by C Ben Torrie, 3B Fletcher Vynne, and 1B Scott Webster.
The Warriors came back and tied it at 5-5 with four runs in top of the third on a two-RBI single by LF Scott Flux, a run balked in by starter Eric Brown, and a sacrifice bunt by C Mitch Riddle. The game remained tied until the disastrous sixth inning.
Even though the Birds trailed 12-5, they still managed to get back in this, with four runs in the seventh on an RBI single by 2B Alex White, a big two-RBI single by pinch-hitter Steve Bone, and a Warrior error. However, the Warriors got two back in the eighth with an RBI double by 3B Nate Hiebert and an RBI single by 2B Craig Spicer. The Birds answered with two more runs in the eighth, and had the bases loaded (tying run on first, winning run at the plate) with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. However, DH Ryan Pilgrim flied out to end the game.
Jason Braun got the win for the Warriors, and Greg Chong got the loss.
Second game: This one was tied 1-1 going into the eighth inning. The Thunderbirds scored just enough runs on an RBI by pinch-hitter Jon Syrnyk, and three Warrior errors. The Warriors came back with two runs in the bottom of the ninth, and had the winning run at first base, but Andrew LaFleur came up with the save.
Reliever Kurtis Schumacher got the win, and Brandon Wolters got the loss.
(There is a mistake in the box score. Starter Scott Webster only went three innings, allowed three hits, one run, struck out one, and hit two batters. Schumacher went four innings, struck out one, allowed six hits, and no runs.)
Craig Spicer, Corban's leading hitter, terrorized UBC pitching. He was 6-10 for the day.
