ARLINGTON, Texas- UT Arlington head baseball coach Darin Thomas announced Thursday that eight student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent and will play baseball for the Mavericks beginning in the 2010 season. The signing class includes five high school prospects and three junior-college student-athletes. All eight of the Mavericks early signees hail from the state of Texas.

“I would like to thank Coach Jay Sirianni, our recruiting coordinator, for the amount of effort he put into this class. He along with Coach Mark Flatten did a great job in getting out and evaluating a great early signing class,” Thomas said.

The Miami Herald is reporting that Eric Erickson will miss the 2009 campaign after undergoing left elbow reconstructive surgery. Erickson was expected to be a part of one of the strongest pitching staffs in the country in 2008 with teammate Chris Hernandez. Read the rest of this entry »

We continue the list today with junior right handed pitcher Matt Thomson from the University of San Diego. He is a 6-4 195 pound righty from Santa Rosa California. South Carolina Baseball Announces 2008 Signing Class

The University of South Carolina baseball program has announced the signing of 12 student-athletes to National Letters of Intent during the November early signing period. The class includes five players from the South Carolina Diamond Devils AAU squad that won a pair of national championships this summer as well as the top rated high school players out of the states of North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia. It consists of 10 high school players as well as two junior college standouts.

Six commit to Virginia Tech baseball in early signing period

The Virginia Tech baseball coaching staff announced on Wednesday the official signing of five players to National Letters of Intent for the 2009-10 school year, as well as the addition of one transfer from an SEC school.

The new signees scheduled to join the Hokies for the 2010 season include outfielder/first baseman Tyler Horan of Boston College High School in Middleboro, Mass., pitcher Joe Mantiply of Tunstall High School in Danville, Va., catcher Chad Morgan of Paul VI Catholic High School in Springfield, Va., pitcher/first baseman Patrick Scoggin of Douglas S. Freeman High School in Richmond, Va., and shortstop/pitcher Brent Zimmerman of Nova High School in Cooper City, Fla. Also joining Tech in 2010 will be shortstop Tim Smalling, a Raleigh, N.C., native who spent the past two seasons starting for the University of Arkansas.

Victoria, TX (November 19, 2008) – The Texas Collegiate League today officially announced the addition of an expansion franchise in Victoria, Texas, for the 2009 season.

The new team will be owned and operated by local businessman Tracy Young, who expressed his excitement at a press conference today.

The event was also attended by TCL president Uri Geva, who shared in the enthusiasm for the league’s newest franchise.

ATLANTA - Two prep All-Americans highlight a list of seven high school standouts that have signed National Letters of Intent to play baseball at Georgia Tech beginning next fall, head coach Danny Hall announced this week.

The recruiting class, assembled under the direction of assistant coach/recruiting coordinator Bryan Prince along with Hall and pitching coach Tom Kinkelaar, includes three players that are rated among the top-10 prospects from their respective states and a total of five pitchers, one catcher and an outfielder.

RUSTON — Louisiana Tech head coach Wade Simoneaux announced on Tuesday the signing of five high school seniors and one junior college transfer to national letters of intent.

This year’s signing class includes outfielder Tyler Boss, third baseman Sam Landis, pitcher Trevor Petersen, second baseman/shortstop Taylor Terrasas, pitcher/first baseman Philip Menou and pitcher Josh Barrett.

“We signed some quality arms and some quality position athletes that will be able to come in and help us right away,” Simoneaux said. “I am looking forward to the players working hard and proving themselves for a position on our team.”

SAN MARCOS - Head coach Ty Harrington announced the signing of seven new members expected to join the Texas State Bobcat baseball team in 2010, with a class of six high school seniors and one junior college transfer Tuesday afternoon.

“We added several great athletes to our team with this year’s signing class that possess great skill levels and a good understanding of the game and the high-level of play we are growing towards here at Texas State,” said Harrington.
